Stefan Posted January 5, 2005 Posted January 5, 2005 I have never been to the north end of Ross Lake in winter. Is this usually open in the winter? Do they barricade it off? What about this year? Do you think it would normally be driveable? Quote
Dru Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 it isnt normally driveable, but you might be able to get in there right now; after tonight's blizzard, that is probably it for access until late march. Quote
Stefan Posted January 6, 2005 Author Posted January 6, 2005 Do you know if there are any gates or barricades they put up? Quote
Dru Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Trust me, you won't be able to drive to where the gate is. Quote
Stefan Posted January 6, 2005 Author Posted January 6, 2005 Fine. Where is the gate and when do they close it? For example do they close it off November-March always....so people do not destroy the facilities at the north end? Quote
Dru Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 If I recall correctly it is somewhere near the park boundary and bridge over the Skagit, just past Silvertipped Campground. But right now you'd need to snowmobile 30km to get to the gate. Quote
Dru Posted January 6, 2005 Posted January 6, 2005 Hozomeen N has already had a winter ascent, and in the winter it is easier to approach via Manning Park anyways. Quote
Stefan Posted January 7, 2005 Author Posted January 7, 2005 I have already done Hozomeen North.....and I don't repeat. Quote
klenke Posted January 7, 2005 Posted January 7, 2005 So I'll repeat for him: Stefan has already done Hozomeen North. Â Stefan probably wants to live up to his personality and do Little Jackass Mountain. Quote
Stefan Posted January 7, 2005 Author Posted January 7, 2005 Stefan probably wants to live up to his personality and do Little Jackass Mountain. Â I have done that one too! Quote
