Current SWBC Snow Conditions

We somehow thought there would be snow SOMEWHERE in SWBC. Tried to go into the hut in Phelix Creek: 3 inches of snow in the forest About 10 inches on the Duffey, no help there. Read this morning that this is the lowest snow year in 15 years

the paper this morning said Sun Peaks at Kamloops has had their 4th heaviest snow load in December ever, 151cm since Dec 1st. meanwhile (same paper), Mt Washington on Vancouver Island (usually in a BIG snow-belt) is not yet operating, with only 53cm mid-mountain base.

I'm headed into to Mariott Basin for a few days on Jan 1st... hopefully the snowpack in the Duffy Lake area is a little better than 10 inches at higher elevations?

Yeah, there's more up high (one metre at Whistler), but it's apparently got a wicked crust right now. It should be better by the 1st. Hopefully

Silver Star (Vernon) had a huge dump on the weekend... 50+cm I think!

 

Koots have a good pack up higher too. Whistler sux right now though.
