However, there are clues that reveal that Number 6 is really Number 1. The first clue being that Number 6 escapes the Village and finds his way back to England, reports to his former Superiors in the Ministry of Intelligence about his experiences in the village, and returns to his home, where upon the front door is a brass Number One. The second clue as to who Number One is: Number 6: "Who is Number One?" Number 2:"You are Number 6." Quote
