Doug Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 O.K., not really Alpine Lakes, not really a climb, but O.M.F.G. what a gorgeous day for a hike up Bandera. A buddy & I went up there today. Ran into fresh snow, 3 - 4", above 3,000' . The sun was out, the surrounding peaks were sporting freshiez. Now I remember why we live here! Quote
Distel32 Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 yeah except looking down at the highway from the summit takes you back to reality a little Quote
Doug Posted November 21, 2004 Author Posted November 21, 2004 Actually, to be able to do a hike like that right off of the interstate is pretty cool. Looking to the north helps that a little too. Quote
klenke Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Ah, but did you go to the true summit of Bandera or just the punter trail endpoint to the west? Quote
chelle Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 Always a comment from the peanut gallery, Mr. Peakbagger... Nice post Doug. I'm jealous that people are getting out to enjoy this fine break in the weather. I'm stuck at my kitchen table writing a research paper for school. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted November 24, 2004 Posted November 24, 2004 i tried to hike that mountain once. unfortunately i missed a very important turnoff at the start and ended up on top of mount defiance instead. oops! nice views from up there, though. nice to hear there's freshies up there!!! Quote
