Backcountry ski trips in now in No. WA?

With a four day weekend in a few days, can anyone suggest any good ski touring in the North Cascades? What's best on Mt. Baker now, or is anything in around Washington Pass? Thanks.

check out the late oct trip reports at www.turns-all-year.com, couple of trips done around mt baker. personally i found awsome touring conditions around artist point on oct 30.

 

i have not heard of anyone skiing around wa pass yet. they get considerably less snow than west of the crest, and looks like they've lost some:

When there gets to be enough snow around WA Pass to ski they close it. WA Pass is more of a spring ski spot.

 

Right now you might check out some of the glaciers accessible from Cascade River Road.

NO. There is NO good snow anywhere right now. None.

 

A week ago it was truly horrible. Just miserable.

 

 

Yesterday was shitty as well. That's not corn, it's frozen runnels, breakable crust, and general nastiness. It rained all day long, too.

Paul, where are the bottom photos from, what elevation? I right-clicked your images to see if I could glean location from your filename but they aren't descriptive enough.

 

BTW, how far is the skiing on Baker from Seattle?

Below Pan Point, so around 7k. We skied to the parking lot on creamy corn, and I hit but two rocks all day.

 

The pow on Baker was a three hour drive, but I'm sure most of it is gone (we had four feet of fresh, but it's been warm).
