Blake Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 I want to pick up some non-recalled WC helum carabiners, but I can't seem to find anywhere that is selling them. Anyone know of a place that sells them? I thought that all the safe batches were still for sale, and I'm guessing that WC will keep making more safe ones, as these biners are so light. Quote
Colin Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 We have 'em in stock at Pro Mountain Sports. Quote
Blake Posted November 7, 2004 Author Posted November 7, 2004 On an unrelated note, if a sewn sling is a 48"er, is that 96" of total cloth, or is it 48" of total cloth, and 24" or distance from pro to rope? (i've always tied my own, but i'm thinking of getting some of the super light 8mm dyneema stuff) Quote
dbb Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 They list the length of the sling, biner to biner. So yes, a 48" is 96" of material, aka a "double". 24" is a single shoulder length. Quote
Blake Posted November 7, 2004 Author Posted November 7, 2004 "cloth"? Â dyneema, spectra, nylon.... etc. Â In America, cloth means: Fabric or material formed by weaving, knitting, pressing, or felting natural or synthetic fibers. Quote
Crux Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 48" sling, aka double-length sling, is about four feet long. (Go figure.) Â FWIW: In my collection, doubles tied with ring bend on old-school 1" tubular nylon webbing are slightly longer than 4 feet, and require 9 1/2 feet of webbing overall. Blue Water sewn slings (5/8" spectra-nylon blend) are 46" long. And Mammut double butt-floss slings (8mm Dyneema) are 43" long, off the hanger at PMS. Quote
