rbw1966 Posted September 18, 2002 Posted September 18, 2002 What did you climb Erik? I was there with a couple friends from out of town and all we had time for was SE Corner. By the way, how do folks here feel about girth-hitching webbing to hangers? Seems a rather questionnable practice to me. Quote
iain Posted September 18, 2002 Posted September 18, 2002 heh are you referring to the anchors after pitch 3 on SE corner? We climbed the corner on Sat too, probably ran into you w/o knowing. Ran into Erik and b-rock @ the first belay, coming down from pitch 2 I guess. I said I need to stop posting stupid crap on this site now that they know who I am. That area was crowded for a bit there, climbed Jill's Thrills after a wait. Had to battle on those finger jams up top. Where were you? I'm okay with fat webbing through bolt hangers for rap so I don't leave hardware, don't see the reason for girth hitching unless you're using sewn stuff though. Quote
rbw1966 Posted September 18, 2002 Posted September 18, 2002 Nope--I am referring to the "top" of pitch one before you traverse over to the anchor for the start of pitch two. Whilst we were rapelling down I saw a guy girthing some hand-tied runners to the hangers for his anchor point. We didn't even get there until about 1 p.m. or so. My other friend had never climbed before and got sketched about 20 feet up so we lowered him and the girl and I finished the route. Ran into my friend Larry there but aside from that I didn't see anyone I knew. I was surprised by how free SE corner was. Jills Thrill is a great route. Quote
b-rock Posted September 18, 2002 Posted September 18, 2002 we climbed cruisin' and the second pitch of the SE corner. a few routes above the first cave. then some weak-assed beer fueled attempts at bouldering. the line to get back up on the ledge was many people deep, we didn't go there. hope y'all had fun, it was a nice day. rbw1966 Posted September 18, 2002 Posted September 18, 2002 Ever bouldered at the large boulder a bit away from Beacon Rock itself? Quote
