jennie Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Can anyone tell me how to open word/excel attachments on a mac. Thanks Jen Quote
ChrisT Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 You need the Microsoft Word/Office application. If you don't have it you may be able to open them in AppleWorks. Control click on the file and choose "Open with...". This action is similar to the PC right click. OR open AppleWorks first and then try opening the files from within AW. Good luck. Quote
Dan_Harris Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 If the above do not work, sometimes dragging and dropping into Apple Works will get it done. Quote
graupel Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 If you are in OS X, you can drop a Word document on the TextEdit icon in the Dock. You might not get all the formatting, but at least you can read it. Not sure about a no-cost method for opening an Excel file. For compatibility without owning Microsoft Office, you can convert things back and forth with MaclinkPlus by DataViz. Quote
dryad Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 It should be possible to download Word viewer and Excel viewer from Microsoft to look at the files if you don't have MS office. Unfortunately you won't be able to edit anything. Other programs that may be useful: Word viewer http://www.download.com/icWord/3000-2149-10210647.html?tag=lst-0-3 Excel viewer http://www.download.com/icExcel/3000-2243-10208946.html?tag=lst-0-2 Quote
