David_Seal Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 I'm looking for a partner for Mt. Adams. It will be my first real snow climb. I've been up St. Helens and South Sister. I live in the Portland area and have a pretty flexible schedule. I'm also willing to drive. Quote
alexbaker Posted July 23, 2004 Posted July 23, 2004 When are you looking to go? 2 days? South Route I assume? Let me know some details of what you want the climb to be like... Quote
David_Seal Posted July 23, 2004 Author Posted July 23, 2004 I'm looking to slog up the South Side. Probably camp somewhere around the lunch counter area (about 9,000 feet). I'd like to polish off the next 3,000 feet early the next morning and glissade down as far as we can get. Other than that, I understand it is a fairly straightfoward snow climb. I wouldn't mind getting up there early enough on the first day to practice a little self arrest. Like I said, this will be my first snow climb. Quote
upupandaway Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 if you do it the weekend of 8/14-8/15, I'm your man! Quote

Kevin_Matlock Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Don't mean to tangent off from your post, but any of you other PDXers looking for a partner? I would have loved to have gone with you on Adams (did it last year), but just signed up on this board. Have some limited rock experience but always looking to learn more. Have gear already. I have much more experience on snow. David, let me know if you want a partner for anything after your Adams trip (three finger jack or mt. washington perhaps?). Quote
iain Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Just an FYI, all access to Adams south side is off limits right now due to lightning fires. South side roads are closed. Quote
David_Seal Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 Iain- Thanks for the heads up. I had heard about that. I'm hoping things will clear up for next weekend when I am planning to go. Otherwise, I am considering the north ridge. Â Kevin- I would definately be interested in doing some routes, but I head back to school in PA about three days after I climb adams. I'm missing the mountains already. Hopefully I'll be around again next summer. Sorry. Quote
keving Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 I'd like to go. Be happy to chip in for gas. Call me at 503 314 9941 lv your number if no answer. Kevin Quote
