dukiebird Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Hey all, my girlfriend and I are tenatively planning a trip to the San Juan Islands this September, anyone know of any bouldering, climbing, anything over there? It's probably a no-go, but it'd be sweet to do a little climbing while there. Quote
Dave_Schuldt Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 There is some bouldering at South Beach at American Camp on San Jaun Island. I have heard rumors of other climbing. PM ketch, he lives on Orcas. September is a great time to go. There is also mountain biking on Orcas and San Juan. Quote
robert Posted July 22, 2004 Posted July 22, 2004 I grew up on Orcas. There is very little if any bouldering to be found and no climbing. I have heard that there is some bouldering on the northeast shore, near Eagle Lake. I have screwed around at Madrona Point near Eastsound, but there is nothing much hard there. There is plenty great Mtn. Biking in Moran State Park. There is good hiking there too. For bouldering pretty much all of the shoreline is steep and rocky. If you want to get your fix just find an accessable spot, but don't expect anything super hard. It will be super scenic, and if you traverse you can get your self in a position where if you fall you go swiming. Have a great trip. Quote
dukiebird Posted July 23, 2004 Author Posted July 23, 2004 Goin to San Juan, most likely. Might take a boat ride to Orcas or Lopez, but I think San Juan. American Camp has come up a couple of times, I'll have to check that out for sure. Thanks for the help, ketch, rob, billy. Ya'll Quote
