mvs Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 DerWanderer and I made this short film a few months ago, I just got around to finishing it up. If you like scenes of snowy couloirs and windy rock climbing it is for you! Please set the amateurishness bit. A tantalizing poster might entice you: Let me know what you think, sorry I don't have an MPG version but the space for these things is killing me already! Hi-res WMV, Low-res WMV. Boring old TR heah. DPS Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 I can't believe you left me, Paco and Mtnfreak on the cutting room floor! Quote
mvs Posted July 19, 2004 Author Posted July 19, 2004 Hey man, it's a G rated film! I feel dirty just thinking about those scenes! Quote
Alpinfox Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 Hey your movies are great! Keep em' coming. Looks like you guys had pretty warm weather and not much snow. No rock/ice missles in the coulior eh? Quote
mvs Posted July 19, 2004 Author Posted July 19, 2004 Thanks! Well it was cold enough to keep the snow consolidated, and we had no missles in the couloir (this was early May). On the ridge the wind was screaming, it was good to be on the north side for peace and quiet. Sure enough the rock on the south side was basically snowfree. I think you guys or Loren went up a week before and had a totally different story? Quote
Alpinfox Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 No, that wasn't me. I was there in late May 2002 and we had LOTS of snow and rock/ice missles in the coulior. The west ridge was totally mushroomed so we went out on the North side like you guys did. There was a snow mushroom sitting on the summit that was the size of a tractor trailer and was hanging over the North side with about a 20ft roof on it. We considered traversing underneath it, which would have been the easiest route to the summit, but we were too freaked out. I got minor frostbite on my toes on that route. Quote
pope Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Bravo! Pass the popcorn. I didn't see any rope work in the couloir. Did it feel like class 3? Quote
mvs Posted July 20, 2004 Author Posted July 20, 2004 Thanks pope, yes the couloir was just step kicking. A little exciting on rotten ice at the constriction, but otherwise straightforward...really exposed above the constriction though! Quote
pope Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 Thanks pope, yes the couloir was just step kicking. A little exciting on rotten ice at the constriction, but otherwise straightforward...really exposed above the constriction though! No, thank YOU! That was some serious mountain porn....it more than aroused my enormous, wooden alpenhorn. I especially appreciated the soundtrack you elected to accentuate the drama of your manly adventure. Quote
mvs Posted July 21, 2004 Author Posted July 21, 2004 Why you are quite welcome old boy. If only you knew the state I was in editing that shocking footage. Surrounded by the mildewed clothing of the expedition, the music swelling, the ice axe plunging into the snow again and AGAIN AND AGAIN! I'm afraid my constitution has been permanently damaged...
