Stemalot Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 hike up the trail to the third summit and fork right out of the gully at the only place you can. there is flagging. when you exit the gully, head up rather than down! You'll come to a big open slabby area...look for small cairns Quote
Dru Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 if you get lost just hike all the way to third summit and then walk east until you trip over the top anchors at the cliff edge, and rap in. Quote
lunger Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 after the grand if you don't have gas for the roman chimneys, head up the black dike (might be a different name) for a nicely situated finish to the uber-classic Grand. granted, not 'classic', but a nice way to top out. Quote
crackedribs Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 what is the decent for sunblessed? or the solarium right side? Quote
Drederek Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 what is the decent for sunblessed? or the solarium right side? We rapped down Sunblessed and did most of the other pitches up there on our way down. We did scramble up a couple hundred feet from the top to a summit? complete with family of four. So you could walk off pretty easily but I dunno how far you'd be from your pack. Quote
jmace Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 walk left till slabs let you go down towards the trail then walk back to start of climb takes about ten minutes, and you can do it barefoot. Way better than rapping, but i geuss its only two raps down as well. I hate rapping and i always walk if I can. This route is so stellar, the last pitch is hard to start but then its easy and the first pitch has the first bolt waay up there but its easy climbing. Quote
