JoshK Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 What a weird snow year...bad winter snowpack, warm spring, then a good deal of late may and early june snow. Quote
PONCHO&LEFTY Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 Wasn't there a good deal of snow until about mid January last winter. Quote
jonthomp Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 Relative to last year (2002-03) I thought this winter was pretty good. At least it seemed fewer days were spent in the rain. Late spring, though...a different story. The rain has been bumming me out and lots of snow higher up to cover what was rapidly melting but not enough to give it a winter-fill kind of feel. Given the long range summer forecast I saw, I'm waiting for the predicted dry weather to hit for the summer months, especially when I have time off to take advantage. Until then I'll plan my summer climbs, scope lines for next year, and . Â PS--JoshK from the looks of your TR's you should hook up with Donnelly. He's looking for partners and is a calm, collected, crazy man on the slopes with some wicked endurance. Quote
JoshK Posted June 7, 2004 Author Posted June 7, 2004 Donnelly came along with Sky, the Hummels and I a few weeks back. Definitely a badass skier! I give him props for doing that approach in actual alpine ski boots! Quote
dmiller Posted June 9, 2004 Posted June 9, 2004 (edited) With all the warm weather we've had all the snow on lower elevations is melted out but higher up I find there still seems to be average to above average snow coverage. More snow would be nice but the down side of getting it this time of year is that when it warms up it's like skiing on glue, you can't move, even when it's steep! Pray for sun, not snow.
