Mt Daniel - Cle Elum River Road conditions

Anyone been up the Cle Elum River Road this season. Is it melted out to the campground at 3,350'?

We were there three weeks ago and had to walk four miles of road to get to the Daniel TH. You might try calling Cle Elum and also check the Wenatchee National Forest recreation report. I think it said that the road was now open, but that the creek crossing was really deep. It was probably 16+ inches deep and fast when we were there - crossed it upstream on a log.

Don't forget the concrete ford on the road itself. That ford might be difficult to cross at this time of year with a lower clearance vehicle. That ford knocked off my Honda's muffler in July one year. The ford is a couple of miles before the Daniel trailhead. Maybe this ford is the crossing Mike is talking about.

I just heard about the concrete ford from someone else, they also had difficulty with a low clearance vehicle. One person that may come has 4x4 pickup, so shouldn't have any trouble; otherwise it's my subaru....
