Chad_A Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 (edited) Every time I've been to NCNP, it's always socked in. Hope to do Buckner relatively soon. From the cam pic taken here, which peaks are these? Just wondering. Thanks for the help. http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/data/509/4625noca2004_144_1300.bmp Edited May 27, 2004 by vw4ever Quote
jonthomp Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 it's always socked in.  Here's the current view of those peaks taken from the Newhalem webcam:  http://www2.nature.nps.gov/air/webcams/parks/nocacam/nocacam.htm  The flat topped one is The Chopping Block. At the right of the photo are the McMillan Spires I believe. Quote
jonthomp Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 True enough. Mc.Spires are blocked by the hill in the foreview. Quote
MikeLoeffler Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 The flat topped one is actually Pinacle Peak. The Pyramid, Mt. Dengenhardt, and Mt. Terror are to the left of Inspiration. Quote
klenke Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Pinnacle Peak also goes by the name Chopping Block. Probably more climbers refer to it as the latter even though it is called Pinnacle on maps. Â More annotated pleasures Quote
klenke Posted June 6, 2004 Posted June 6, 2004 Addendum per John Roper: the locals (i.e., those who live in the Marblemount/Newhalem area) refer to the peak as The Stump. Â Roper didn't go for my suggestion to call it "The Polyp." Quote
Chad_A Posted June 10, 2004 Author Posted June 10, 2004 Wow, pretty impressive. I'd like to see them up close sometime Quote
