catbirdseat Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 According to my calculations, to hold a 15 kN fall the suction cup would have to have a diameter of 17 inches. Clearly that toilet plunger is inadequate. Quote
arlen Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 That's Devil's Lake pro If I ever saw it. Prolly works better than a cam on quartzite. Quote
Rodchester Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 Would a Yates screamer make is sufficient? Quote
bunglehead Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 What the dude REALLY needs is one of those spiffy bolt guns like in that incredible Stallone flick. Man those are sweet. Quote
catbirdseat Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 You are missing the whole point. The suction cup won't permanently damage the rock. You probably actually could get a suction cup to work, but you would have to put a bead of some gooey gel on the rim so that it would form a vacuum. Quote

lancegranite Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 I wrapped my gloved hands with 2 inch stick-on VELCRO strips. This stuff is 20 feet by 2 inches wide. very sticky, we use it a work. Wrap hands with the "hook" side. Cover palms throughly. ala' tape gloves, but cover the fingers as well... find carpeted wall, stick hands to wall and climb. Good gloves are a must. Quote

I'll be damned, you are probably right. Quote
nonanon Posted April 3, 2004 Posted April 3, 2004 A partner once had an idea for a sticky-backed bolt hanger. He was gonna call it the P3, which stood for Purely Psychological Protection. Quote
