Woman's Harness

I was going to buy this girl I'm dating a harness (I'm such a romantic!) but I have no idea what her waist size is (and I'm not going to ask). She's 5`7 and pretty thin. Can one of you girls speak up and help me out? The sizes are Sizing information: waist sizes: 4 (XXS) = 23-25", 6 (XS) = 24-26", 8 (S) = 25-27", 10 (M) = 26-28", 12 (L) = 27-29"

Well considering that MOST shops will not alow ANY returns on climbing gear, I'd get her a card or something that says you're getting her a harness and then go wioth her to try it on. that way you got it right. Fiting a harness on the web is crazy.

Agree with Rod on this. Harnesses are such a weird thing to fit anyways. Some women have small wastes and developed leg muscles from carrying a heavy pack, some are just tiny all around, some need more rise in the waist and some don't. You really need her to try on several harnesses. Make sure she hangs in it from whatever the shop has set up to check that the waist fits tight enough and also that the distance between the leg loops and waist are good. Metolious makes very good harnesses that can adjust the rise. My wife is fairly small all around with a medium to longer rise and found the Metolious fit her best. I never would have thought that until we tried them on and as ehmmic says, hung in it at the shop.

 

You want to get the fit right, because she may hate climbing if it isn't. and that would suck, spending money and pissing her off, not good.

Go check her underwear drawer and see what size thong she wears. There's a pretty close corelation between thongs and harnesses. You could probably have fun with that harness on Valentines day too!
