trying to hold up the 20 KK$ for reconstruction in Iraq, just because they can. I mean, it sounds like 20 KK$ is not near enough, so things are all going to go to hell over there anyway. Now the Repubs are gonna get to blame the democrats for the eventual problems.

First they vote to give GW war powers, then they all sit back and wait to see what happens and when it appears safe but it is still really too early to tell, they jump out of the woodwork: "aha: no weapons of mass destruction."

 

Meanwhile, they see that the polls show that the American public is suddenly worried about spending money and, witout a clue about how things may or may not play out over there, they try to stop or slow the reconstruction.

 

As much as I think that Bush and his cronies are trying to destroy the world, there is no leadership coming from the Democrats, that's for sure.

I was against the war, but what is done is done. We have to do what is best now, regardless of past battles. Pulling out of Iraq now would be a grave mistake. We have to buck up and spend the money or we will really suffer later.

She has been a big surprise to me as well, Peter. Certainly she is more in tune with the issues than Ms. Murray. Who knows, Cantwell might turn out to be another Scoop Jackson!
