Peter_Puget Posted September 22, 2003 Author Posted September 22, 2003 Over on the always groovy Body Results site they suggest using a wood block with weights attached. Since cast dumbbells are pretty cheap I was thinking that I'd just go buy a 50lb db and hack saw it apart but the adjustability is lacking. The drawback of the adjustable wood block might be turning it into a pendulum. Any thoughts? Quote

Peter_Puget Posted September 22, 2003 Author Posted September 22, 2003 I hate grabbing wood! It's kinda like a Mr. Grip-O-Matic Jr. ! Have you ever seen an adjustable pinch grip pull up bar? That sounds like a great idea. Quote
RuMR Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 PVC pipe would work...just change out diameter right? Quote
Courtenay Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 Blocks, pipes, PVC, washcloths wrapped around handles -- BUT remember to always keep it as close to the grip you're trying to train as you can. If you have trouble with wide slopers, you need to train your wide grip; if you have trouble with crimpers, you need to train that. One argument against "just" climbing to train grip is most climbing routes don't hit the same grip over and over again -- unless you're using HIT strips (ONLY for the most advanced of us or beware injury) OR setting routes specifically to allow you to work your weaknesses. Again, start with the end in mind -- your target or goal -- and then figure out how best to get you there. Quote
