chirp Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 Anyone know about routes on the North side of the inlet to Skookumchuck Res. (Thurston County)? I was there years ago bushwhacking around but we ended up on the South shore and no where near any rock. Is it worth the thrash or a big waste of time? Quote
erik Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 i have heard heard heard heard that the resumed quarrying now as far as that being the truth, i dunno? Quote
Off_White Posted September 2, 2003 Posted September 2, 2003 The routes are long gone, blasted to rubble and hauled off to make breakwaters. That quarry was really active when I went by there a couple years ago (Columbia Granite Quarry), some wierd kind of granite, super hard stone. You can buy a boulder big enough to climb on for only $25 a ton, but moving and placing it would cost big bucks. Quote

DCramer Posted September 2, 2003 Posted September 2, 2003 Erik - Roger's Corner is to the right of the ice. The ice is on the Black Wall just left of Leo Chimney. You can see Marginal Karma and B o C on the corner wall. It look like GNS has changed a bit since the picture was taken. OW - Nice pic. Thanks for posting it. Believe it or not the Pickett photos were stored in a garage for years until they were donated to the UW. It is remarkable that they held up so well. Just a few years ago the collection was not even properly indexed it is great to find out that now it is an online resource. D Quote
