kurthicks Posted August 26, 2003 Posted August 26, 2003 thinking of heading up to Hood for some ice on the Eliot and then hitting up Sunshine this weekend. Has anyone been up there recently? how are the crevasses on the Eliot? is there still snow all the way up the route? Thanks... Quote
rbw1966 Posted August 26, 2003 Posted August 26, 2003 For what its worth, I was on the west side of Hood recently and I didn't see any snow on cathedral ridge at all. Quote
iain Posted August 26, 2003 Posted August 26, 2003 Cathedral Ridge is an abysmal climbing experience this time of year. The wind howls the dust blows the scree tumbles the climber bumbles the end (applause) Quote
iain Posted August 26, 2003 Posted August 26, 2003 but hey sunshine might be good my guess is you might be bombarded by rockfall. I'm talking about t.v. sized stuff. maybe microwave size by this time? Quote
kurthicks Posted August 26, 2003 Author Posted August 26, 2003 (edited) nothing like a good poem to motivate me to go elsewhere. what about the crevasses on the eliot for some ice? does it look dry yet? Edited August 26, 2003 by wazzumountaineer Quote
iain Posted August 26, 2003 Posted August 26, 2003 yeah the Eliot was in great shape a week ago. There is a bit of seasonal snow in places, but there was plenty to do. Boy is that glacier disappearing fast. Quote
