snoboy Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 Cool photos of the fire in northern WA. HERE Especially the 1.2MB one here Quote
Dru Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 also in that pic note massive amounts of coast mountains and comparatively wimpy amounts of cascades Quote
Mr._Natural Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 dru, how close is that to ashnola river rd? Quote
gregm Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 i'm guessing this is the same fire that was burning a couple weeks ago now that i saw from the boston glacier. anyway it was a big mushroom and looked like an a-bomb had gone off. another thing that is really cool in the big picture linked above are the white ripples in the straight of juan de fuca. are those cloud formations or waves? yes dru has much snow up there. i am inspired to do some kite skiing traverses up there. some wind powered jibbage for sure... murraysovereign Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 I noticed those cloud formations also (they gotta be clouds, cause waves that big would have travelled clear across Vancouver Island, and there would have been something about it on the news by now). Pretty distinctive, wonder what causes that effect - anyone know? Quote
Dru Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 it's clouds but i didn't take enough meterorology to tell you for sure. probably a front of moist warm air developing ripples as it is forced through the straight of j de f. Quote
Szyjakowski Posted August 13, 2003 Posted August 13, 2003 hot diggity...nice earthquake there... ...multiple tsunamis unleashed... Quote
