Has anybody done any bouldering out by Surprise Lake? I was snowshoeing out there this Saturday and saw some good sized boulders that appeared to be pretty cool if the didn't have 7 feet of snow on them. Curious.........

I haven't lived up there for a while but I might know if I could remember where that damn Surprise Lake is! All this glaring sun in Flagstaff, Az. has dimmed my memory.

i know of one suprise lake on the way to the north side of mt rainier....we used to 4x4 up there and party though i dont think you can cross the carbon river there anymore so it out of the question..

but i bet there are like 5-10 suprise lakes within the state alone.....

if it scotteryx it must be up around the mtn loop.

Surpise Lake be 4 miles south of highway 2, just west of where you head up to Scenic hot springs. There be lots of big boulders up there. I suspect they'd be kind of mossy in summer, seen as they're kind of in a deep valley. But when covered in 7 feet of snow, they make for fun skiing.
