scot'teryx Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Has anybody done any bouldering out by Surprise Lake? I was snowshoeing out there this Saturday and saw some good sized boulders that appeared to be pretty cool if the didn't have 7 feet of snow on them. Curious......... Quote

Lambone Posted February 11, 2002 Posted February 11, 2002 Pardon my ignorance, but where is Suprise Lake? Just curious... I've heard it mentioned on this site a few times, thanks. Quote
erik Posted February 11, 2002 Posted February 11, 2002 i know of one suprise lake on the way to the north side of mt rainier....we used to 4x4 up there and party though i dont think you can cross the carbon river there anymore so it out of the question.. but i bet there are like 5-10 suprise lakes within the state alone..... if it scotteryx it must be up around the mtn loop. philfort Posted February 11, 2002 Posted February 11, 2002 Surpise Lake be 4 miles south of highway 2, just west of where you head up to Scenic hot springs. There be lots of big boulders up there. I suspect they'd be kind of mossy in summer, seen as they're kind of in a deep valley. But when covered in 7 feet of snow, they make for fun skiing. Quote
