robertm Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Anybody been up Ptarmigan ridge in the past couple of weeks? How are the overall conditions ? Also how is the Emmons doing for a snowboard descent -- is it pretty broken up now? Thanks for the info Quote
philfort Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 Don't know about Ptarmigan, but the Emmons was so suck for skiing last weekend. Might be ok on a really warm day, since its still continuous (no real crevasse problems), but it was bumpy and icy crap. The corridor has deep penitentes across its entire width. Didn't see any climbers coming over from Ptarmigan or Lib Ridge... Quote
mike_m Posted July 8, 2003 Posted July 8, 2003 The route conditions page on the NPS-Rainier website has beta from a 7/5 ascent of Ptarmigan Ridge. Sounds like it's in good shape Quote
robertm Posted July 8, 2003 Author Posted July 8, 2003 Thanks All! Sounds like it is in good shape. Will let everyone know how it goes. Planning on climbing it this weekend. Quote
