catbirdseat Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm. Here's how it went: "Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers." Quote
Winter Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Of course this theory only works if you believe in the natrual regeneration of brain cells. I've been promoting that theory for years now ... I think. Quote
sobo Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Szyjakowski said: Homer said that years ago... old news. uhhhhhhhhh, Cheers went off the air WAAAAY before Homer got on it. I think Cheers gets the credit here. Quote
kitten Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 I thought alot of beer just made you not give a damn. Is being easy going , worry free - smarter? HMMMM Quote
Szyjakowski Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 everything in moderation is the key to life. ask George burns, Newhart, Clinton, etc. Quote
kitten Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Now what would you know about 'moderation'? Hehehehe Beer goggles? Is that smarter? Maybe??? Quote
chelle Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Saw an international medical study that found taking antioxidants helps to prevent the damage to brain cells caused by alcohol. Article in yesterday's PI. Drink as much beer as you want, just take your vitamins. Quote
