TimL Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 Anybody been in to do the Mt. Maude NF this year? Any beta on the approach or conditions would be much appreciated. Quote
erik Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG HIKE THE FLOWERS IN LEROY BASIN ARE MUCH MORE OF AN ATTRACTION THE THE N FACE ROUTE. Quote
JoshK Posted May 29, 2003 Posted May 29, 2003 Agree with Eric. That's a *beautiful* area of the cascades, but from what I saw the NF maude route wasn't that impressive. That said, I still have an interest in going in there and hitting all 3 of those 9000s in one shot. I've also heard from 2 seperate people now that the entiat icefall route is more fun than NF maude if you really want to do a route on that side of the mountain. something to think of... Quote
dberdinka Posted May 30, 2003 Posted May 30, 2003 Just agreeing with Josh. I climbed the Entiat Icefall several years ago now and it is still one of my best climbing-trip-memories. I did the extra looooong approach but that ended up being all part of the attraction. NF looks like a snow slog IMHO. Went in late June of a relatively low snow year and conditions were just about perfect. http://www.ac.wwu.edu/~berdind/alpine/maude/frame.html Quote
