dkemp Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 I was in Stehekin last weekend and saw lots of rock and wonder if there are known cragging areas there. No info in guide books, Google didn't help. Any information about fairly accessible rock climbing out of the Stehekin area would be appreciated. -Dox Quote

klenke Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 That big one being Rainbow Falls? That'd be quite the ice climb if it were frozen. See attached for photo of falls from last summer. Quote
dkemp Posted February 27, 2003 Author Posted February 27, 2003 Nice photo, thanks! I happened to bump into and meet a fellow cc.'er in Stehekin last weekend - he was there with his fam. On the shuttle bus ride he must've been thinking the same thing as me and he asked the bus driver about Rainbow Falls. The driver said that it rarely freezes up, maybe every 15 years or so. He said last time it froze was eight years ago and it was climbed twice that year. Its a beautiful falls, but pretty low elevation, like 1200 feet. Anyway, if you're ever in Stehekin its worth the stop to have a look. Quote
