Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 So did you ever do 5 Easy Pieces? Quote
RuMR Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 No...no one was interested in going up there w/ me... You interested? I'll bring the diapers!! I definitely want to see what's up there...nice cold dry day, my guess it would rock!! Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted February 19, 2003 Author Posted February 19, 2003 (edited) Maybe this Fall. It does look like a good line, and the first pitch is definitely fun. What is it overall, .13b or something? Edited February 19, 2003 by Dr_Flash_Amazing Quote
RuMR Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 I have no idea what the rating is...i've heard everything from .12c to .13a...A's a chipper that drills for his finger size, so if you got small fingers it might be ezier... It just looks like a cool line from the ground... Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted February 19, 2003 Author Posted February 19, 2003 It looks like a positively stellar line. Looks like killer position up around the third or so pitch up on the arete. Who's "A"? Has he chipped ... err, put up any other routes at Smith? Quote
cracked Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Speaking of chipping, I took a close look at Churning the other day (I gotta try it sometime) and it seems like all the pockets are the same size and perfectly round! Is is true that 90% of the holds on the route are chipped? Quote
RuMR Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 No...there are 3 modified or created holds...the rest are natural...Why are you looking for chipped holds anyway? Quote
RuMR Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 I think adam g from Eugene put up the line??? Quote
cracked Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 I wasn't looking for chipped holds, I was looking for holds. And if Adam put up the route, every hold will be chipped. Quote

RuMR Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 are you talking about Churning or 5 ez pieces? I don't know adam, so i'm not going to comment on 5 ez pieces, plus i haven't climbed on it... Churning was put up by Chris Grover and Sean Olmstead as an experiment in the early stages of smith sport climbing. Many of the lines in aggro gulley were cleaned and bolted and climbed by Sean... RuMR Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 That would be reinforced as opposed to glued on... Quote
Dru Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 so how hard to do Churning would it be not using the chips? could you bust out some Klem Loskot dynos and send it Au Naturel at 14 something? Quote

Hard to say. Plus who knows if the chippers are fully chipped or just enhanced holds? Like the jug before the crux that apparently used to be a bit smaller before a certain CJ enhanced the hell out of it. There is a chipped pocket after the aforementioned jug that one could maybe skip, but the Doctor doesn't remember exactly where the other ones are or what the climbing is like there. Quote
