jeichler Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 If anyone has recent beta on the Mt Hood south side/old chute route it would be much appreciated (rock fall/snow/ice conditions). The National Forest Service site says the south side climbing conditions were good as of July 6th, but I haven't seen any updates since then. Thanks, Jack Quote
Nolan E Arson Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 Did a quick lap up this week (July 22). The bergshrund is quite open, as one would expect this late in the season, but easy to end run to climber’s right. Both left and right gates are pretty crappy. Expect a steepish mix of hard ice, shitty soft late season snow, and flowing water. Lots of gravel and small rocks litter the surface. You would not want to linger here. I didn’t see the Old Chute or Mazama Chutes up close. Quote
ScaredSilly Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 (edited) This time of year is known as bowling for climbers. Edited July 26, 2020 by ScaredSilly Quote
