I just picked up a pair of 8 mils from Pro Mountain Sports. Which was odd for me, because I have never heard of the company before today, I guess they are a Spanish brand.

Pretty much the same specs and price as the Beal Ice Ropes, same hand, just different colors.

Anyway, I'll post what I think of them after next weekend. I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience with this company?

I have had an 8 mm - 50m for about 4-5 years now. I like it. Ade and I used it on NR Stuart last summer. Light weight but strong. I have heard rumor that it meets/comes close to Edleweiss strength over a .75mm edge standard. I'll be curious to see what you think of them after some use...

I'm mostly curious about the TOCSEC waterproofing system they use. The information about it is very vague, both on the web site and on the tag. I just wonder if the strands are individualy treated, ie. how waterproof the core is. Lillooet should provide the ultimate test!

I have used a roca 8.5 totsec for a couple of years and have been out in some pretty warm, wet spring conditions on glaciers and have found the ropes to stay very dry. They don't gain much weight at all and handle well in the sloppy conditions. I don't know how the waterproofing is accomplished but it sems to work. I hope you let us know how they handle to conditions at Littlewet.

cool, good to hear...thanks for the input.

It's hard to evaluate a rope after one use, the true test will be how it's looking a year from now.

Fresh ropes give me this warm fuzzy feeling inside!
