You get September yet? I'm struggling to enlist any friends to attempt September if you're interested...
-
Well, that looks awful. Thanks for the picture anywhow!
-
Anyone have recent info/conditions on buckner? Haven't been able to find any recent trip reports.
-
Thinking something more remote and beautiful over technical. Glacier Peak? The Ptarmigan Traverse? Chelan-ish? Something "adventurous".
-
Have the 4th to 10th off and hoping to do something remote, the reg. partners are all working. Let me know if interested! Brandon

[TR] Mt Rainier - Kautz - Tahoma 07/14/2018
Bdubs replied to dave schultz's topic in Mount Rainier NP
@dave schultz Yes, that was definitely me and a buddy in the bivys! Wind was not fun on fri night/early sat up there in a bivy. Must've been earlier in the night, but we had a couple periods of decent gusts. BUT had zero wind the next night (sat night) bivying at 13k atop the Wapowety, which was rad -
Must have just missed us! Think I saw you guys high on route. We started Fri later afternoon, camped low, and moved up to 13k on the wapowety and camped there on sat.

[TR] Mt Rainier - Kautz - Tahoma 07/14/2018

Did you happen to walk past our camp low down at 8000 ft on Saturday morning? Maybe spot two people in bivvys getting punished by the wind? -
Thanks for the info. The Wilson gully ended up being totally fine!
-
Yeah @jstluise, I haven't seen any sort of reports/updates for a couple weeks. And thanks @ScaredSilly, Friday mid-afternoon to Sunday. The Comet Falls approach sounds like a nice change of scenery compared to the Paradise area.
-
Debating between Paradise approach and the Comet Falls approach for a 3 day climb this weekend. Any special thoughts/suggestions from those with experience on the Kautz? Quite curious to see what the very warm weather will do to the Lower Nisqually. Much appreciated!
-
Hoping to get out and climb the Kautz either next weekend or the weekend after. Would also be open to something similar in nature. Have summitted Rainier a few times (DC and Emmons), and am looking to begin hitting up the less crowded and more interesting routes. Shoot me a pm if interested and we can talk experience/dates.

[TR] Silver Star - Silver Star Creek 06/02/2018
Bdubs replied to JuanBelay's topic in North Cascades
Would you recommend bringing skis or not really any use/reward? -
Thanks @JasonG! Looks like road is closed 1 mi from trailhead, which shouldn't be bad on skis. How is the routefinding on the approach down low? Looks like a straight North shot from the Park Butte TH
-
Hoping to ski a Baker route this weekend. Am deciding between the CD and Squak. Any personal thoughts/preferences or notes? Haven't been on the Squak before, and was thinking it might have fewer people this weekend. Would love to hear from someone who has skied it.
-
Title says it all. North Cascades, Glacier Pk., Rainier, Olympics maybe. Glacier stuff mostly, but am up to follow some easy alpine rock if that's what you want to do.
-
Looking to climb the Emmons in the next few weeks, but would also be open to the DC or other slightly more challenging routes. Greatly prefer partners that have summited Rainier before and are experienced/very comfort able with glacier travel. PM me if interested! I'm available weekends and can be available weekdays as well.

Have been tossing around an idea for a new ultralight cooking product geared towards climbing/mountaineering/ultralight backpacking. I would appreciate if some of you guys could take a little survey I made relating to the product! I will probably use the information a quick practice pitch to my entrepreneurship class (am a college student). If people take the survey or express interest and I do end up following through with my idea, I'll probably offer it on here dirt cheap first! Link to survey is below. surveymonkey.com/r/Z8Z3R2M

Have this Fri-Sun and August 4-15 off before I head back to school, and am hoping to get on some easy/moderate glacier routes. Mainly am thinking Shuksan, Sahale via the Quien Sabe, Glacier Peak DC, and am open to most other glacier routes as well. If interested PM me and we'll talk details, experience, etc.
-
bump, looking for competent partners to head up to the Sulphide this weekend. So far it is me and a buddy.
-
I actually e-mailed the Yakama Tribe about this recently. Their response: "Regarding your question if Mazama climb is open July 1. The short answer is that the Yakama side of Mount Adams will not be open this year because of the 2015 Cougar Creek fire in the Bird Lake / Bench Lake areas. We lost most of the camping sites, watering sites, and the trails have hazards trees and blowdown all over. It will take us at least this season to assess the area. Although we are technically closed, it's likely people will access the Mazama Glacier from other routes and the area is unlikely to be patrolled. It's common to see hikers on that route from May through October, weather we are open or not."

Looking for competent partners to climb Shuksan in the next couple weeks, preferably beginning on a weekday. Probably take the Sulphide glacier, would consider Fisher Chimneys with the right partners. Message me and we'll talk experience, goals, possible plans, etc.
-
Looking to get out on some easy/mod glaciated peaks in the N. Cascades or on volcanoes. Message me to talk about possible objectives and experience level and stuff.
-
Looking to get out on something covered with snow and glaciers this month as I am free on weekends. Comfortable travelling on a 3+ person rope team on a glacier, nothing too gnarly though. Also down to lead sport/follow trad. If interested let me know. Located in Spokane for the month.

I've been reading up on placements, practicing from the ground, and slowly piecing together a rack (difficult as a college student). I would strongly prefer to follow someone on a lot of pitches and learn all the ins and outs of trad climbing from someone who has a fair bit of experience (basically a mentor), but will take a short class in the spring with a guide service in the event that this doesn't happen. My overall goal is to be able to safely and efficiently climb some easy alpine rock in the summer (maybe some routes that involve glacier travel and easy 5th). Shoot me a PM if interested. Edit: forgot to add, in South King County and at school in Spokane
