  2. My dogs name is Sharma...surely he be off leash right?? It is funny though when we call his name around the crag and talk about Sharma being back at camp, the chatter around the crag about Sharma possibly being in the area is hilarious. Maybe I should change the dogs name to Honnold...
  3. Anyone know if the zipper or the fly is "in shape" on Lane peak?
  4. I really don't need a $300 gift card to REI so some one please buy this thing. I will drop the price to $265 that's $35 for free!!!
  5. I have a $300 gift card for REI...looking to sell it for $285 $265. Good way to grab an extra $15 $35 off a purchase if you were planning on purchasing something from there any way. Will prove the value of the card before purchase to ensure you are not getting a piece of plastic.
  6. What kind of weather patterns am i to be looking for to know if some of these route are "in" or not? What things am i to be looking for at the base of a climb to affirm that?
  7. Great thanks AJPederson...i did some searching but couldn't find much thanks for reply
  8. Hey Guys- Im looking for suggestions on some moderately easily assessable snow/snice/ice/couloir climbs. Climbs that are good for getting used to using 2 tools and placing snow/ice protection. I know most climbs like this have to be "in" before attempted and would appreciate any beta on those details that can be provided. The ultimate goal is to get on these routes many times throughout the season to get a feel for different conditions of how they are "in" and "out". Would the fly or the zipper on Lane peak in MRNP be one that fits into this category of climbs im asking for? Thanks
  9. If anyone finds a blue 60cm ice axe on the Muir Snowfield please PM me. My wife some how lost it on the way down (prob sliding on her ass). looking at photos its prob in the 8k down to pebble creek area. If found and returned, I have a case of Sierra Nevada's highly coveted collaboration "Beer Camp" featuring alot of beers you cant get in WA http://beercamp.sierranevada.com/ with your name all over it. Thanks
  10. These were 2 main thoughts i had about the enchantments. Im dont mind seeing a few people but i would rather stay away from crowded crags. @Rad, your assumption wasn't incorrect, i am looking for rock routes but not limited to that. I will have my wife with me so i wont be getting on any hard rock routes with her. @dave schultz We have climbed the SW Rib on SEWS before so...looking for another area that we haven't visited.
  11. Pretty new to the PNW, so im looking at hitting up the enchantments the first time for the long memorial day weekend. Base camping, then doing some day climbs. Never been to the area, any suggestions on a good base camp site to access a number of climbs. not sure what climbs im going to do yet due to unsure route conditions. looking at Dragontail, colchuck, Prusik, any other must do's?
  12. What are your plans for memorial day weekend? What are you climbing? Any recommendations?
  13. Awesome TR! Thanks for sharing. Hope everyone reading realizes this is the proper way to conduct a TR and uses this as an example when writing their next.
  14. Was at Smith on Sunday the 4th when we heard about a rescue happening around the corner from us. It was on the Morning Glory Wall on what I think was Zion 5.9. http://www.smithrock.com/routes/mgw/zion/index.html Redmond Fire and Rescue were the first to respond along with another agency a few moments later. From what we could gather as we were leaving making sure to be outta the way for the rescue, the climber was making his way across a traversing over hanging hand crack on the last pitch when he fell and slammed into the slab of the 3rd pitch. Was reported to have broken leg and arm and some head injuries. Not totally sure all this is accurate as we were just chatting around with others in the area. We were walking up the hill to the parking lot as the chopper landed. Thoughts and prayers go out to the climber, hoping for a quick and easy recovery. Anyone else heard anything about this or about what happened?
  15. Thanks guys! This has given me a good starting point. Im sure if im patient enough i will find what im looking for. Thanks for the help!
  16. This was posted in the gear sale here...thoughts on the G3 Soulfly evo? they are a bit longer than what i wanted but for the right price i think i could swing it. http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/1123343/FS_Patagonia_clothes_skis_othe#Post1123343
  17. Right now on steep and cheap i have the BD Stigma Ski and the Dynafit One U-TF boot in my cart for a grand total of $535. Thoughts? I would much rather buy boots locally in order to try them on and ensure proper fit.
  18. @water I have been cleared by the wife to spend around $1000 obviously I would like to stay under that as much as possible. Thanks for the advice. The Mastraeli RS are 299 right now. Thanks
  19. Your "rant" is exactly the issue i become overwhelmed with, you are exactly right. 1A. I am an intermediate skier. I don't mind getting on steepish terrain if its an open bowl/snowfield where i can do some traverses. At the same time im not opposed to taking off the skis and booting down something too difficult (not a big ego here) 1B. obviously a balance would be best but due to my priority of the Uphill being more important to me weight is a concern. 2. Cost is an object but at the same time i have been given the go ahead by the wife to proceed with what i feel is needed. From what everyone is telling me this setup should last for sometime. 3. NO. As mentioned above the wife knows about this purchase and being my primary climbing partner will want in on the action as well at some point. buying used skis and bindings which i am not above and in some ways would rather do if they dont weigh me down and splurge a bit on new boots. http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/spo/4434544589.html Thoughts?
