  4. white saddle air will get u close. http://www.whitesaddleair.com/ pacific coastal airlines has a sched into anahim lake. i am goin to do sum work in the pantheon next week. i will snoop around and get back to ya. Hope this helps. chris.
  5. i left my skins on over night before and maybe a weekend i dont think there is a stretching issue. but I do notice that there is a bit of glue residue on my skis. this has worked to my advantage in the past (like kick wax) and for ski touring it never made a differance on my DH skiing having sum glue on the skis made it a bit easier muckin around on some shallow grades on the way back to the truck... Chris.
  6. im interested in those low profile waterproof gloves. the look comfy!
  7. i think the mechanical advantage of carving them on groomers may be hard on em. although I have never broken a pair.. i have broken a few pairs of diamars (the original titanals) they had well over a hundred days on em when they broke... usually the metal bar the holds the toe to the heal break. oh and a few toe pieces. then I upgraded to a set of Diamar freerides. and they got there run threw their paces and I retired them in good shape as I upgraded to dynafits.
  8. Hey Panos.. it is my thoughts that the concept of skiing pow is not a whole lot diffrent than skiing groomers. your center of balance is the same. (Im sure this will spark a debate.) but a bit of guidance from a ski instructor will certainly get you on the right track, balanced and all.. As far a skis go anything thats wider than 80 under foot im sure will be more than enough. I back country ski 3 to 6 days a week and I use a pair of 2006 model rossi B2's 182cm (76 under foot) and they do just fine. im 5'11" and 215 lbs. they are outfitted with dynafit bindings.. I might not reccomend DF's for groomers but they great bindings a bit finiky but great. I have been pokin around the mountains for 20 sum years and to help you make a transition safely beyond the ropes would be a great pleasure. Chris..
  9. since november.. 36 ski tour.. 1 lift access.. and few heli days 10ish maybe.. faceshots are almost daily this season.. manOman Gitoutthere. Chris.
  10. ski tour in the Coq today..Nak peak area. standing on my skis the snow was up to my waste. tuff slug up but well worth it. some snowpack issues.. three or four settlements (whumpfs) on the up track. indicates instability. test results producing easy shears on south aspect in new snow. on east aspect failures on facets down 55cm. there is buried surface hoar down 75ish that i have been tracking since it was buried on jan. 26 it has not been reactive to any tests yet. but one must know its out there, I am sure it will start reacting once the snowpack starts to settle and consolidate. ski with caution this weekend. Chris.
  11. its been there for as long as I have been traveling that road..good times. I could ride my bike to that bluff ..
  12. i think I saw ya on my way home from work today in the ditch. climbing out by seabird. cool.. i'm gunna try and get out there again maybe next friday if the snow doesnt warm us up around here.. chris.
  13. I walked west today from the Zopkios rest stop and contoured around Zop ridge into a west facing bowl that had some cool lookin alpine climbing lines. and (what I went for) some good skiing.. bit of bushwackin but worth it! Groovy Chris.
  14. I have a photo File at work named "Darwin awards candidates" for people I see on Yak south in winter. Chris.
  15. is there a guide book to relate all those cool names to geographic locals? nice lowdown on the routes by the way.I know some of the names.. but alot I dont. living in agassiz im sure I have seen almost all of em. at one point or another. Thanks eh! Chris.

  17. reagarding current conditions. There was inverted temps in the coq and allison pass(alpine temps were close to zero) today. which helps with the upper elevation snow pack tightening up. that helps the hazard. Avalanche activity was minimal today to say the least. with minor activity on the solar aspects. seems things are gettin a bit better. on another note I walked into Flood falls(mousetrap) today, I am a novice climber at best. but it looked thin to me and gettin thiner with the air temp near zero. water running down the center of the falls. I am happy to help you with your snow profile skill development were I can. I live in Agassiz too.
  18. u can see it from hwy 1 west bound on the way outa Hope on the left. exit 165 there is a paralel road there and the trails off of there. i havent climbed there, but seen people there plenty. i suspect others that read this know way more about it than i do. Chris.
  19. i drove past the summallo and seabird on my way home from ski touring today.. both look undesirable for climbing.. but gettin there! the mousetrap( i think they call it that) off of highway 1 is shapeing up.
  20. im leaving to ski tour in a few minutes.. i opted out of the Poly pro. for a pimped ralph lauren polo..
  21. the redistributed snow from outflow winds will sustain weakness for some time. i ski toured in the coquihalla yesterday and things got spookey for me at 1600 meters the wind affect started to slab up the snow. and the interface from old and new was a weak bond. Mind that storm interface for the next few days my friend.
  22. Here are a few things to consider.. south west winds transfering low density new snow into your gully.. forecasted arctic highs have arrived. along with mod to strong out flow winds. which are blowing snow into your gully from the other side. west aspect.. afternoon solar effect. these are all reasons why this thing runs natural all the time. and I assume why it is still "unclimbed" I admire your ambition. but I cant help to say my two cents.. please consider the hazard fully. and have fun! chris.
