  1. If that is stolen gear at least law enforcement will have a lead: two feet and a pair of socks! Seriously though, all that new, unused gear: sketchy-town.
  2. Relatively speaking yes, the closest town is Dayton, and it is very close to Bluewood ski resort.
  3. Interested in a trade for a brand new Black Diamond 35L Revelation ski pack?
  4. Trip: Weeping Wall, Bluewood, WA - Date: 1/9/2010 Trip Report: We decided to head up to Bluewood's Weeping Wall on Saturday to see if we could find some climbable ice. With the warming temperatures we were skeptical but with the top rope accessible Weeping Wall knew we'd probably be able to find something to climb! Sure enough a few pillars were quite decent and we were able to setup a top rope and lap some short ice pitches. The ice was seeping a little bit, but still fun nonetheless. There were some cool formations to look at as well. es. Gear Notes: top rope anchor gear Approach Notes: Parking at the Middle point trailhead. Walk up the road a mile or so to access the wall 75 yards off the road on the left.
  5. That is a good price at sierra trading post. Where do I find a coupon code?
  6. Thanks dave, that makes sense. I might go for them because of the price if they will at least get me heading uphill for now. It will be interesting to notice how they perform.
  7. Being brand new to the AT world, I was wondering how much the fit of skins on ski's is an issue. I have the K2 Mt. Baker's, and am looking to buy skins for them. Because of tight finances I was wondering if getting skins that are narrower (tip, width, tail) would decrease performance drastically, or only slightly. The dimensions of the mt. baker are 120/88/108. The BD skins that about 60% off are 102/71/92. Any reasons why I should not try and skin with those? Any advice or suggestions are very much appreciated.
  8. Three of us have tentative plans to give the sisters a go next weekend. Access is as noted, gate is usually locked and most likely having to go up the road. I think the route itself will be tricky, but manageable, at least I hope!
  9. Whitman College has recently (within the last year) built a brand new EntrePrise climbing wall on their campus in Walla Walla. Naturally I was very excited about this as I live and go to school at the nearby Walla Walla University. However, upon inquiry I found that the wall is strictly closed to non-students for the first year because of insurance reasons. VERY disappointing! Has anyone else heard anything about this? Here is a rendering of the wall:
  10. Or squeeze them both in. It takes a FRUGAL lifestyle, but it can be done!
  11. Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork trekking poles, brand new sealed in package -- $110 Black Diamond Revelation 35L ski pack, brand new with tags -- $100 Pictures available upon request.
  12. SWEET! I guided on the Deschutes in Oregon this summer, but we didn't have anything like that drop!
  13. sick guys! wish i could have been there with you, Yosemite was greeeaat though! :-)
  14. If anyone needs a partner for the traverse, let me know. I'm working up at Big Lake Youth Camp below Mt. Washington and have been eyeballing the sisters for a few weeks now...
  15. Nice TR. I was up there solo about a week prior, but turned around before starting the scramble up to the summit because of the blowing snow and ice... alpine conditions at the end of June? Just my luck! However it IS handy to work at Big Lake youth camp at the base and have a warm bed only miles away...
  16. do what needs to be done. whatever it takes...
  17. I'm having a very hard time deciding which AT ski to buy. I've read countless articles and now the differences between the two skis, pros and cons, and the like. That being said, I still cannot make up my mind on which ski to buy. Can someone with some experience riding the Shuksans attest that they ride decently in soft snow? There are arguments for both skis as all-mountains skis, it would be helpful if I could hear some of those reasons from you who ski them. All advice is much appreciated...
  18. I'm a new backcountry skier looking for a boot/binding setup that won't entirely break the bank. Used gear in good working shape would be perfect. Looking for a 28-29 size boot. Thanks!
  19. Climbed cooper spur last night. 2.5 mile maze up to the last public shelter (which is free of enough snow to stay in). The left Tilly Jane trail has a lots of down trees and lots of snow. We followed the ridge up. Route was in great condition with a few soft spots that eased the calf muscles just enough... There are two medium-size slid paths that came down the initial incline after Tie in Rock, probably within the last 3 days. Snow is consolidated well now. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
  20. Were there any open cracks? We went up at about this time last year and many parties were not roped up, we kept ours in the pack as well. Thanks for the photo's and info!
