  1. Brownland?
  2. Namely, trying to get a fucking job. I am talking about traffickers and such. I think it'd be better if we just started using the word "browns" as a kind of catch-all phrase for all your paranoid fantasy "thems". Are you saying all traffickers are hispanic in origin? Seems a little discriminatory there Kommrad. Sorry, I didn't realize all your delusional fixations on security were focused on our border with Scandinavia. Carry on.

  5. I'd accelerate your checkpoint program to include 24-hour surveillance of all "citizens". Suspend the 4th Amendment indefinitely on the basis that we are being invaded from within and without by brown gun-toting, drug-dealing, slave-holding, generic-Viagra peddling terrorists. Immediately begin Project: Fuck Russia Hard. Immunity for life for all military personnel. Start work on a Super Soldier Serum. Drill, drill, drill...
  6. Into movie theaters, actually.
  7. KK, I don't like the drunk driving checkpoints either, but you can't really draw a parallel between the two. Like it or not, driving is a privilege (a trite phrase, but true) regulated by the state. You consent to this unreasonable search and seizure when you get your license. Also, you are not asked to provide identification until you are detained on the suspicion of being under the influence (at least I've never had to show my license). Yes, it stinks. In fact, it sucks donkey dick . This is something different. You are on a public road miles from the border. You can be subject to this search even as a passenger. You are being asked to produce identification for no good reason, for merely being there. This stinks far, far worse Don't worry, the Iraq vets that will be manning these checkpoints will have had plenty of experience.
  8. Well when you use the term "lose-lose", it certainly raises some doubts in my mind. And when Alkoholeke suggests moving towards a police-state is a "win-win", it really gets me to thinking. And then, when you're able to smear anything that has to do with the government as "Socialism", I think you might be on to something. And then when Pee-Pee tosses in some statistics from an obscure think-tank, it makes me go hmmm... Then when....
  9. Exactly. Big Government meddling has screwed us and gotten us where we are today. So the solution is... more Big Government meddling? And have democrats not considered what will happen if they get their national healthcare system, then the Repubs get back in office? Another big government program to use to funnel money into special interest groups (big pharma), the same way that has been done with farm subsidies to big ag, military spending to defense contractors, etc, etc, etc.... And once the program is established, it will be there forever, no matter how screwed up it is. Good for the Democrats and their M.O. of buying votes with handouts through a system of dependency on government programs. Good for R's for the reasons you state above. Bad for America. Ever wonder what a feedback loop in an echo chamber sounds like?

Propaganda 101: First Lesson Dehumanize the Enemy. Octopuses, Snakes, Apes, Rats, etc. are popular.
  11. Just as I thought. Keyword there is "should". That it isn't is a reflection on the victories of conservatism in this country.
  12. Sorry, dude. Many of us give to charities that are not faith based. How much do you donate of your time and money, BTW? Nothing? I'm just a squirrel, tryin' to get a nut. No, seriously, working 40+ hours a week to keep a family of two above water on a monthly basis should be enough. Taxes that I'm already paying should cover my collective responsibilities to my fellow citizens and alleviate some of my own financial burden (like health care). This should free up some of my time to make real social contributions through collective activities (being an actively engaged citizen) and developing individually (learning a craft, a language, playing an instrument, travelling, etc.) That my financial contribution is being misdirected and that some of you assholes (liberal and conservative) would frame the entire discussion in terms of work (arbeit macht frei?) represents a true decay in the idea of liberty and what it means to be a human being.
  13. Define "needy" I choose charities whom I trust to make this determination and have a low overhead in terms of operational expenses. Tax-exempt government sanctioned and subsidized churches!
  14. Kev, despite what you may see around you, we live in a classless society; being "fortunate" has nothing to do with America. Everyone is socially compensated in direct proportion to how hard they work and/or how much value they bring to market. Those "less fortunate" you speak of are simply surplus population. They should only be kept alive to scare others into working.
  15. Whoo, everybody sure is touchy! Such reflexive defensiveness is a sure sign that things aren't going so well for you guys.
  16. Try it in economics lingo, it sounds less harsh: "These people lack the willingness to pay and are therefore unable to generate effective demand." Either way, the capitalist market in health care doesn't give a fuck.
  17. That's what the Hummers and guns are for.
  18. Sounds like a great way to keep you and your "co-workers" employed when you get out of the army and back from Iraq. And the makers of surveillance equipment, anti-personnel devices, razor-wire, guns, tanks, and concrete barriers. It's not a police-state, it's a stimulus package!
  19. "Wo ist deine papieren, bitte?" Where are the libertarians? Constitutionalists? Don't worry, the ACLU will do your jobs for you again.
  20. Sorry, I'd love to spend more time with this, learning more about your point of view, doing some more research on health-care alternatives for our country, and crafting a thoughtful rebuttal, but I have to go to work!

Who's got a Tillamook Baby Loaf for less than $12?
  23. None of you people are going to give a shit about health-care when you're standing in line to pay $10 for a gallon of water.
