  1. Selling off a pair of new Spantiks, size 45, without box and without tags. I took the tags off thinking I was going to use them and, aside from walking on them indoors on carpeted floor to try on, I never did use them. Yours for $450 shipped to CONUS. PM me if you'd like any pix of the boots.
  2. I am selling my K2 Shuksans, size 181 cm (2006 model) and Fritschie Freeride bindings (size M, which accomodates boot sizes 280 to 330 mm) (2006 model) for $300 combined, plus shipping. The gear has a total of 12 days of strictly resort skiing, and strictly on green and blue runs, with a rare blue/black run thrown in. They have absolutely no core hits on their base, as I've never gone over a rock on them. I would say that the gear (skis and bindings) is in excellent condition, as I am not an aggressive skier, preferring more turns than pointing the sticks down the fall line. Yes, I am a pansy. I am selling the gear because I have bought smaller skis and boots, which required me to move one size down in bindings. PM me or email me at unclejamsarmy@yahoo.com if interested or if you'd like to see pictures. Best, Robert
  3. I am getting rid of my soon-to-be ex-wife's pack, an Arc'teryx Bora 62 (Women), size small in the red/sangria color. She used it only once on a three-day backpack trip in Yosemite in 2005, and she hated the experience, so she never used it again. (I should have known then the marriage wouldn't last.) Brand new it cost $350. I'm asking $150 for it, plus shipping. Please PM me if interested, or would like to see pictures. Best, Robert
  4. The Marmot Alpinist and Patagonia Mixmaster pants, and the shovel are spoken for, pending receipt of payment.
  5. Learning to ski, Rob, and cycling. I can almost competently ski blue runs without looking like a dork. The Shasta traverse incident to Hidden Valley freaked me out, and I haven't been doing any climbing since. I'm going to get back into it this year, though, and finally knock off the West Face Gully. It sounds like you've been having a lot of fun.
  6. I have the Ready Mix and its predecessor, Stretch Krushell. Probably the best jackets I have, and also the least expensive. I tend to sweat like a pig no matter the temperature, and these jackets keep the sweat at least manageable, pretty good at cutting the wind, and also provide some abrasion resistance. I have other softshell jackets that do the last two things more or less the same, but I am completely soaked from my own sweat because they don't breathe as well as the Ready Mix and Krushell (e.g., Arc'teryx Gamma MX).
  7. I don't know who you are. And you apparently have no sense of humor. I intentionally listed the prices in odd numbers and, the "firm" reference was a play on the odd numbers listed. My name is Robert Oliver, and I have bought and sold stuff on this and other fora. You can check my rating on ebay, my name there is robert_oliver. I've never had a problem with a sale online yet (as a buyer or seller), and I will insist on using PayPal on any transaction, both for the buyer's safety and mine. Now move along troll.
  8. I'm cleaning out the gear closet to make room (and to pay) for the new stuff I bought. All the stuff is in near pristine condition unless otherwise noted. Prices do not include the cost of shipping, which the buyer is responsible for paying. PM me if you'd like photos. AT Boots: Garmont Mega Rides, size 29.5. Bought last February 2006. Used only four days resort skiing. No scuffs to speak of, and liners have not been baked. I bought these too big, and had to size down to a 28.0. Retail for $599. I'm asking $383.57. Scarpa Super Manta Boots, size 46, dark blue. This was one of my first boot purchases. It is old school, littlewaywelt construction, and accepts step-in crampons. Aside from using them to the office to break in, I used these boots only once hiking into Ediza Lake around Mammoth. The size of the boot and the fit was much too large for me, and chewed up my heels. I'm a 45/45.5, low volume, narrow heel kind of a guy. These boots don't fit such a foot. But if the fit is right for you, these can be glorious boots. Brand new was $250. I'm asking $151.16. Marmot Alpinist Climbing Pant, dark gray, size Large. These are somewhat oldschool Goretex XCR pants, they have storm flaps. Drop seat, with suspenders, and full side zips. These pants have probably seen about 8-9 days of activity. Brand new were $275. I'm asking $81.39. Patagonia R3 Radiant Fleece Jacket, royal blue, size XL. This is around 2003 vintage, used only once. Brand new was $150. I'm asking $50. Grivel Air Tech Ice Axe, size 66 cm. Slightly used. This is not the "Racing" or "EVO" version. It has a real spike, straight shaft, and a has seen about 6-7 days of duty. Brand new was $150. I'm asking $71.23. Life Link Lexan Shovel, T-handle, and, for those that care, Red. Brand new about $40. I'm asking $15.54. Marmot 300-weight fleece pants, black, size L. This is a great layer piece for expeditions to butt-cold places--places I'll never go. They have a drop seat and full side zips. I bought these on ebay about three years ago in slightly used condition, and they have stayed that way as I have only used them once since. Just too damn warm for California. I'm asking $51.50 for these. Cloudveil Serendipity Jacket, blue and gray, size XL. Brand new is $220. I'm asking $101.29. Patagonia Mixmaster Pants, size 34, black. These pants are brand new, never used. Brand new was like $299. I'm asking $180. And yes, the prices are firm...........Enjoy! Robert
  9. I have the good fortune to have been given a third pair of Arc'teryx Gamma MX pants, size Large Tall, color Black, brand new with tags. Seeing as I have two pair already, I am looking to unload this third pair. I like these pants so much, I briefly considered keeping this third pair, but, even for this gear whore, that is too much. Anyway, they retail for $275. I'll sell them to the first taker for $150 plus shipping. Email me at unclejamsarmy@yahoo.com if interested. Regards, Robert
  10. Parka and sleeping bag sold. Boots still for sale.
  11. Seeing that I will never get around to that Denali trip I once dreamed of doing, I am getting rid of brand new (in one case, practically brand new) cold weather gear. I will try to post pictures in the next day or two, but, since this stuff is new, all you have to do is check the company website to see what the stuff looks like. Feathered Friends Rock & Ice Parka. Brand new, never used, except to try on at home. Black, size XL, with Event shell and overfill. I've had it hanging in a closet since I got it. Cost me $674. I'll sell for $400. La Sportiva Nuptse boots. Brand new, never used, except to walk up and down the carpeted stairs in my house around 3 or 4 times. Size 45.5. Retails for $525. I'll sell for $300. Western Mountaineering Big Horn SDL Sleeping Bag. Rated at -30 degrees. Size 6'6", left zipper, Super Dryloft shell. I used this bag for three nights on one trip to Mt. Whitney, that's it. Looks brand new. Have stored it first draped over a hanging rod in a spare closet, and, lately, in its storage bag (not a stuff sack). Retails for $715. I'll sell for $350. PM me if interested. Also, FYI, I have an excellent rating on ebay (robert_oliver). Many thanks in advance, Robert
  12. There are two short straps with releasable buckles. Run them both through the mini daisy.
  13. I'll just throw my .02 here and say that the Western Mountaineering SDL Antelope is a great bag in that range. Although rated at 5 degrees, WM is notorious for being conservative with their ratings, and I wouldn't have any trouble putting it up against any 0 degree bag for warmth. It's got 800 (or maybe 850 now) fill, a Dryloft shell, continuous baffles, and packs down pretty small. Is it the best bag in this range? I don't know, as I don't have access to many or all bags in that range, but I'm very happy with it. The Dryloft shell adds to the weight, but well worth it for durability and moisture protection. I also have a WM Versalite rated at 20 degrees (an old one) that is two pounds, but has a very light shell material that leaks down like a sieve and is hard to keep dry. I would not trust this bag for more than an overnighter in snow or wet conditions.
  14. If memory serves, Patagonia usually has the DAS parka on close out for about $165 during their summer blowout sale sometime in June or July. At least they have the last two or three years.
