Any feelings on the Fuhrer Finger (Rainier), by Monday/Tuesday??? Hang out by the Wilson and watch the weather for a few days, or go for something safer? I'm becoming more and more inclined to ditch this route for something less of a gully.

We are currently 2, split-boarding... definitely looking for a board descent. Skiers or borders are welcome. Options that we have looked at, so far, are the Fuhrer Finger or the Success Couloirs... definitely open to other routes, nothing too technical. Looking for a 3rd with proper glacier travel technique. We'll be driving up from SF, after work on Friday of Memorial Day weekend... we may extend the trip into the following Tuesday, but prefer to be off the mountain by Monday. Zach

Board - Prior Split 172 Boots - Asolo AFS8000 Liner - Snowboard Boot Liner or Garmont Therm-Fits (still adjusting the fit), with a power-strap stitched to the portion of the liner that extends above the boot. Binding - Strap bindings I've tried AT boots with plate bindings (great climbing, terrible ride), soft-boots with standard binding set-up (great ride, seriously sketchy climbing), and now the above set-up. The above is perfect for split-boarding and mountaineering... climbs well, and rides just like a soft boot - nice and surfy, and the higher liner savalves from saves your calves from getting bashed ny the high back. Oh, yeah... and get a split-board. It's the only choice. Snowshoeing sucks ass.

Assholes My dad is one of these nutjobs, and I tell him so constantly. The worst part - if you disagree with them, it just further enforces their overall sense of persecution.. and as we all know, persecution=righteousness. God help us if ding-dong somehow gets reelected. Zach

Does anyone have experience skiing these? Are they worth the long aproach? Any better route reccomendations? My partner and I would like to make a snowboard descent from the summitt, this Spring. We'll be on split-boards. Zach

Can anyone offer recommendations for routes that would make for good snowboard descents? 2 routes that we have been scoping are: Fuhrer Finger Success Couloir Please include your impression of the difficluty of the route, both ascending and descending. We would be stoked to find an ascent route of moderate technical difficulty (we may bring a small rock-climbing rack, but not a true ice-climbing rack), with a good, steep descent (40-50 degrees, possibly with tight chutes).
