  1. if you have to ask about this,

then you're not fit for the job

    shut it, scottie.

do you know what he's applying for?

if you don't search out inside/detailed information about a potential employer, you will lose the opportunity to someone else who did.

  2. i liked the oak bottom trails b/c they were 5 blocks from my front door. they are short, but can be combined to get in a decent run. if i were to drive to run, this would not be my destination.

from lower sellwood park, run around the pond. cross the paved trail to the w. side and keep running the trails north. these will almost take you to the ross island gravel co. (watch out for tree limbs). double back. that'll give you about 5 miles of trail running. i usually include the trails to the upper park to get my blood pumping.

    the scenery is nice too.

  3. forest park rocks! the wildwood trail will soon be mud pit, but for similar experience try the leif ericson road starting at the germantown road parking area.

oak bottoms is another area (with potential). the paved springwater corridor trail runs from the sellwood bridge to the ross island bridge and there are a couple of dirt trails on either side (no bikes on dirt trails) (mileage ??; < 2.5 miles).

the rest of this month is crazy for me, but after the new year shoot me a pm if you want to hit one of these trails or others.

these folks put on some fun runs in and around (a couple hours drive) the portland area. when i finished the last race i did with them (a scramble) the keg was easier to find than the water station. i also didn't experience any of the expected 'athletic arrogance'.

folks from this club usually win the x-dog events

don't have any experience with the following:

  4. i just chose a garmin gpsmap-76s for my x-mas gift. (for similar uses)

i decided on that over the vista (and v-c) partially b/c it was on sale for $250 (mrp $430), partially b/c of a better antennae.

garmin units have more users, which means better support (at least with peers) and the units have been hacked if you want to do any of your own modifications (custom maps).

this site has more information than you'll know what to do with, including links to online retailers (seriously good deals!).

this board has some good discussions on models, but keep in mind that their usage is quite a bit different than yours.

    good luck!!

  5. no

but it is a BAD ASS venue if you haven't been

as long as you're on the same groove as the folks around you. otherwise it feels like you're too drunk to stand up. the best show i've seen there was spearhead. the whole place was hoppin'

    ChrisT: thanks for nuthin! tongue.gif

    wink.gif seriously, enjoy!! bigdrink.gif

  6. my mom sends emails in all caps. my brothers and i would just get a laugh out of it, but when she stopped using carriage returns that was it. i had to inform her that if it drives me nuts, i'm sure it would be torture for grampa.

  7. is the 'Replies: ##/#' format coming back (withthe 'auto jump')

I know you can enter the thread and click 'jump to first unread' but it's annoying to have to scroll back up to get to the link.

  8. i had a similar experience at jiffy lube, camilo. usually change oil myself but was running late for a road trip.

quoted $20-$25 for the change and then...

$35-$45 for the 'good' oil change. since my car is an older model ('96) i 'really should go with the upgrade'.

$35 for an air filter that was marginal, but not critical as he said.

he had started to talk me into the oil upgrade, but when he pulled the air filter BS i backed up and went with the cheapest option.

they are trained to push the customer and make money; not to properly asses your vehicle.

tangled up, bigdrink.gif for doing your own work! and yes, women with greasy hands are sexy!

edit: that sounded so wrong...you know what i'm getting at.
