  1. Climb: Duffy lake road ice scouting and ICYBC climbing-icybc Date of Climb: 2/16/2006 Trip Report: Drove to ICYBC from Whistler for a day of breaking in a novice. conditions of climbs: from road: Rambles looked okay from what one could see Loose Lady too thin (not in) Tube none existent Synchronicity next year Carl's Berg too thin for me, but maybe climbable by hardmen Soo blufs some hint of ice (could be better, didn't get a good look at it) climb: ICYBC and area: fat, wet on LHS and RHS, stepped out in places. Lake is frozen, second tier in, third tier is running in the middle with ice formed to the top. FYI: road crews were working on bridge right by Synchronicity. Had to wait 30 min. Hopefully they finished up this afternoon. Approach Notes: 99 to ICYBC in great shape...random snow pack stretches on bare...safe to bring mom's caddy.
  2. I'll be going home to Bozeman for Thanksgivin' week. Anyone want to climb some early season ice? pm or email me at dj.at.yvrATgmailDOTcom
  3. Complete Yakima rack system: 4 Q towers (used for ~1 year) 2 round bars 58" long with hooked end-plugs for easy tie-off(used for ~1 year) 1 ski rack for 2 pair of skis (brand new, never installed) 1 standard faring (wind shield) 42" wide (brand new, never installed) 6 lockable cores (4 for towers, 2 for ski rack or other attachment) with same key system (used for ~1 year) see attached pics or go to www.physics.ubc.ca/~djjones/forsale I purchased this system 6 years ago, used the Q-towers and bars for 1 year. Then I bought my truck and put it in storage...it now needs a new life. The Q-tower levers have a slightly sun fade, but functionally fine. I can cut the bars to whatever length you want. The Q Towers come with Q17 clips. You might need to purchase other clips (~$30) to attach to your car, see www.yakima.com Retails for >$450 CAD+ taxes. $200 CAD for the package. I might be willing to part out the faring and ski rack. Meeting/shipping across the border is possible for those under the unforunate reign of Karl Rove. Price would be $180+ USD shipping or $200 USD to meet in Bellingham, etc. email dj.at.yvr at gmail dot com or pm here... 487250-yak_rack.pdf
  4. Thanks for the info...do you think you'd need a winch (or ?) to get around the barrier? I recently (and unwillingly) donated my mtn bike to (I think) a needy crack addict.
  5. With equal snow around I'd say Loveland, 'bout 1.5 hours from Boulder down 93 then I-70. Eudora is good, but check the wind...it can howl there.
  6. The rumor I heard was Paul designing for Tua before their meltdown a few years back

  11. No, they do not. I had a pair of Intuition liners fitted for Alphas, but found they were too bulky around the ankle, which I didn't like. I returned the Alphas, and used the liners in my ski boots. I also found that "sizing down" didn't apply to Alphas, because they are already a very low volume boot compared to something like the Inverno. In case anyone is interested, here are some gory details and pics from someone (not me) who has used Alphas with Intution lines. good stuff
