  1. Don't recall posting that I summitted? Thanks for bashing me though.
  2. He recently moved and my old numbers for him aren't working. If you know Jerry can you have him call me. No emergency. Thanks. Brook
  3. That's an old picture. Isn't that where Ammon put the porch swing bolts?
  4. Did this individual break their femur? If so, how did you treat the injury? Given the close proximity to the road, I hope you waited for a litter and splinting supplies from EMS and the Chelan Mountain Rescue Team. It takes a lot of force to break a femur, which means there was also a chance the subject could of had a spinal injury as well. A broken femur is definitely a life threatening injury. Just curious?
  5. Snohomish county still has a huey and an active techincal helicopter response team. With the drop in military support you can expect to see our team performing more rescues outside of the county. This is due to a lack of technical shorthaul and low hover ops capabilities from the adjacent jursidictions, such as King County. Our team trains religiously, is made up of talented climbers and we are always on the ready to perform any techincal rescue the cascades can throw our way. For what it's worth, the Navy will still do hoist operations out of Whidbey island - but only during daylight hours. There is still a fare amount of helicopter resources, they just might not be as well known as M.A.S.T.
  6. Thanks bud. Check you're PMs.
  7. I'm interested in the 5.9 A3 route in the back of the Sky Valley Rock guide, which doesn't have much info other than the topo. It would seem to me that a bivy would be required if there's that much moderate aid. I'd probably opt for hammocks if there aren't any good bivy ledges.
  8. Does anyone have any good beta on the Dolomite Tower on Mt. Baring? The topo doesn't list a good bivy ledge, so I'm wondering if a ledge or hammocks are required. Is the top of pitch 6 a possible bivy ledge? Thanks.
  9. I'm organizing a community clean up of the childrens climbing wall at the Marysville Youth Peace Park on 67th and Grove, near the Cedarcrest Golf Course, from 8:30-3:00. The climbing wall is need of repair; the holds are greasy and need retightening, and the wall is riddled with grafiti on the backside. There's several community sponsors that are helping out too. Redbull will be there, as will members of Everett Mountain Rescue, and Ogawa Mountain Adventures. Many businesses have donated gifts or supplies to the even as well. Safeway, Papa Murphys, Sports Etc., Cascade Crags, and others. We’re having a big BBQ when it’s over for those who help out! We’ve taken care of everything, just come ready to help. Might want to bring gloves for yourself. There's a fun bouldering comp after we finish! Great Door Prizes for adults and kids! Hope to see you tomorrow… Directions: From I-5, take exit 200 (88th St Exit). Go East on 88th. (That would be a right turn if your driving Northbound on I-5, and Left if coming southbound on I-5.) Stay on this road, driving past a cemetery(the road turns into Cemetery Rd) Turn Right on 67th St NE. Just past the Cedar Crest Golf Course You’ll see the Peace Park on the Right (Northwest corner of intersection) Turn Right on Grove St, and look for parking.
  10. I just purchased a very cheap ticket to Kat for 1400USD. the departure flight is in August which is the high season and the reason for the higher price. Go through Third Eye Travel, they are the cheapest I have been able to find anywhere, even when searching online. They mentioned it would be a few hundred dollars cheaper if I could fly in Oct. www.thirdeyetravel.com
  11. Just returned from the valley and Middle Cathedral and the areas surrounding it are currently closed due to a rockfall incident from the central pillar of frenzy. It's unknown when it will open. Try not to plan any trips around the central pillar of frenzy or the Middle cathedral. Also remember not to bring dogs to the base of climbing areas in Yosemite. Some climbers left their dog at the base, tied up, and it was helplessly injured in the rock fall. It's against park rules anyway. There is plenty of climbing in the valley, so you won't get cut short if you're planning a trip in the next few weeks.
  12. I just returned from the valley and saw Tommy at the base of the Captain. Everyone in Camp4 was buzzing about it. The word didn't really get out until 2 days before he freed it. Apparently there are a few 5.14 pitches. One that I know of for sure. Nice job Tommy...
  13. This thread is a few days old and pretty much talked over. I just wanted to add that not very many people outside of Washington seem to know what MOFA is. (Atleast those that I have talked to in my travels.) Not a single person in the WEMT course I recently took had heard of MOFA. The mountaineers do a great job with these courses, but they're not very well known outside of our area. It might be good to consider taking a WFA course, which is the national equivalent of MOFA if there's a chance you might move. Just a thought... Good luck. However, in the end, either is course is beneficial.
  14. 1st, check with your regular medical insurance provider, if you have one. Most domestic medical plans include international emergency medical care, but not evacuation and/or transport. I have changed insurance companies over the years, but blue cross, aetna, and group health offered to reimburse me should I have to go to the emergency room in South America, Asia, Canada, and Africa, (I'm assuming Europe as well). Check with Access America, a company who offers emergency medical care and evacuation travel insurance. Or you can PM me for more info. http://www.accessamerica.com Have fun on your trip.
  15. WMI of Nols is very good. they offer WFA, WAFA, WFR, and WEMT. http://www.nols.edu/wmi/index.shtml Wilderness medical associates has a very good WFR curriculum. I took a WMA course through Rescue Specialists in Leavenworth. I highly recommend them. http://www.wildmed.com/ http://www.rescuespec.com/
