I'm somewhat sceptical of this theory. How do beacons use 'crystals'? How does the range get affected? Could you post a link Beck? I'm curious about this phenomenon.

As far as I could tell you lose quite some elevator elevation. But who knows? Oh, and you probably can't adjust the elevator or lock/unlock your heel with a ski pole, it takes too much force. A consideration.

The advantage of a digital beacon is you can get the same search time with less practicing. I prefer skiing to practicing. M1's are nice. I like the emergency transmit button. Ditto, which is why I bit the bullet and bought the Barryvox (can you say alliteration? ).

Check Marmot in Bellevue, I think I saw some in there a few days ago. Not familiar with the line but the name sounds kind of familiar. They were black with a Fritschi look to them. No, the Barryvox is the best! Remember, you don't need a really spiffy beacon...only your partners do! Seriously, probly any beacon is the best as long as you practice with it a bunch.
