Prelim Reports are 20 metre debris piles not a 20 metre crown. The crown is approx. 3 metres and almost a kilometer long, it did go to ground in many places. The only reason there are no fatalites is due to the heavy compacted nature of the snow, everyone just rode on top since it was to thick to really get into, some of the snow machines did get burried though.

Why would you expect a pocket rocket owner to be in the park? It's not a park ski. 1080's maybe but the pocket rocket is a kick ass fat ski, I bet it would suck ass in the park. Just about everything has a turned up tail these days, even my Bandits XX, XXX and Volkl G4's are "twin tip" not as much as the Pocket Rocket though.

I didnt think that you where actually going to tell the world about it...

I figured that they did or no one would use them and I think I understand how, but I was hoping for a clear explaination. Yeah, I love their boards I own a few to say the least.

Let's see if I can make this make sense on paper... screamers dont make much sense to me, if you fall and pull out a screamer, the piece holding the screamer to the wall still has to be strong enough to hold the impact and tear the screamer right? I understand that the strength of a screamer is less than that of a well place piece but how much less? So really the screamer doesnt increase the chance of the piece staying in the wall, It just lessens the force experianced by the leader as he/she comes to a stop right? (which is important in its own right) So to me whether you put it on the questionable piece or the bomber piece doesnt matter so long as its the piece that catches the fall and holds. Somthing tells me I am completely wrong here, but maybe somebody here can explain it to me.
-
So here's a question then... Would you be better of running out a climb on a bomber piece of pro, then possibly falling a long way onto it, or putting in a questionable piece after the "bomber piece" then falling and having the questionable piece pull, fully streching the rope and loading up for a huge impact on your "bomber" piece? Would the second scenario increase the chance of complete failure in the system? My first instinct is to say the more pieces the better for both safety and for climbers piece of mind to not be 20 feet above your last piece. But it makes sense to me that if you take all the give out of the system, then load it up, you run a greater chance of pulling the bomber piece. Pardon my newbieness if this has been discussed ad nasuem before or if the answer is "never place a questionable piece" (which from my standpoint seems impossible), but it seems like a good question to me.

He was there??? I dont think so...

The first aid test is not difficult at all, it based on the red cross first responder book. However high score is not the only requirment to get in at NSCC, they also rank based on affiliation. Also keep in mind that to get your certification at the end you have to be employed with a state affiliated EMS. The WFR class that I took does an anaphylaxis workshop (we stick each other with saline to practice) although we not legally covered without the guise of a program medical director we can use it under the good samaritin laws and be pretty safe. Matt, EMT-b can only pipe an upper airway obstruction right? I though you had to have an additional airway Tech designation to tube someone. Over all im pretty happy with what I got out of the WFR class and with the exception of W-EMT it seems the most appropriate to what we all do, especially the additional "wilderness protocols".
