  1.

    How is it UN-blended?

Boring. My ex's mom made it that way.

From my ex's mom I learned to make cream of broccoli soup. Seems you can cook any vegetable, blend it up and call it soup.

  2.

Potatos, leeks, cook in chicken broth with pepper and spices (maybe coriander or rosemary,) then run it through the food processor til creamy and reheat.

  3. You need.

    1) Miso - buy at asian market NOT hippy health food store.

    2) Han Dashi -- this is for quick and dirty recipe, instant fish broth, main ingredient is MSG, but mmm mmm good.

    or

Dried sardines (sold in bags at asian market), cut off heads and gut. Bring to a brief boil in a large pot and skim filth. Strain broth. You have created a traditional Dashi soup base for miso soup.

    3) Cut wakame. Usually comes in a packet, they look tiny, but you sprinkle them in the soup at the end and man do they expand.

    4) Cut fresh green onion.

    5) firm silken tofu, cut in cubes.

Make Dashi, Mix miso with small amount of broth to thin, then add to pot of broth. Add in tofu and green onion (you can boil these first, but don't boil with miso added because you loose healthy benefits). Add wakame. Serve.

P.S. Hippies make it with just miso. You are dumb. That is not miso soup.

    mmmmmmm...me so happy fruit.gif

  4. Well here's about as plain as I can make it.

The Bushies screwed up big time.

They lied about the reasons for going.

They understimated the complexities and the costs.

The disbanded the military and police, didn't watch known weapons caches, and made other strategic mistakes.

The place is generally in chaos and we have no exit strategy.

30,000 Iraqi civilians have died and over 1,200 US military.

Careful planning and economics at home have been sacrificed for politics and a neoconservative agenda.

We are not safer because of this war.

The US can fund the things you talk about through USAID and other programs, but choose not to, likely because the military and our budget is stretched so much.

What I would like us to do is take a global strategy that meshes with some common sense economics, without expecting to pass around the tin cup to the public.

I think this travesty is a terrible mistake and will continue to support the charities that I regularly give to, but not this effort.

I will continue to bager my legislators about the need for a major reassessment of our empire strategy.

    my sentiments exactly thumbs_up.gif

  5. apples and oranges...animated films dilute the best picture category by competing against live-action films and vice versa IMO. It's akin to football players vying against baseball players for "MVP of America" award.

  6. There is now a separate category for best animated film...it was started a few years ago after Beauty and the Beast was nominated for best film. Spirited Away was one of the recent winners.

  7. This movie is coming up on everyone's top ten list and many are calling it THE best movie of the year. Normally I eschew animated and kiddie fare... but has anyone seen it and is it worth it?

  8. I'm with you Luna. A 2K diamond ring is a lot of BS. Not all us women are ultra-demanding, materialistic bitches. I also appreciate what mycoatl said about getting a unique and less expensive ring. I thought the opal ring my brother gave his wife was touching and beautiful (and didn't cost him an arm and a leg).

Oh and Dru - women traditionally wear the engagement ring in tandem with the wedding band on the *same* finger. I wear an old spoon on my middle finger. cantfocus.gif
