I heard Tom Cruise can climb around 5.11, and could quit hollywood and be a bold climber. Plus he's wearing 5.10 Ascent's in the movie, which are great shoes, that I went out and got after seeing that movie.
  2. I was wondering what people thought of taking a twin rope e.g. 8.5-9.2 to do a strictly mountaineering ascent but only taking a 30-35 meter section. I was thinking it would be good as long as other people are on the route (rainier) to assist in a lowering if someone needs to perform first aid to a fallen climbing, but for strict climbing and going light is it a smart move?
  3. All I have to say, is that you (Mike) and all the other people that work round the clock on rainier are badass and do a great service to the climbing community and are getting nationally recognized for it e.g. Outside Magazine. I would love to have the privaledge to climb with you someday. I'm only 19, but think of it this way, in my eyes, you are my michael Jordan, just you can climb faster than he can. I want to be like you and be as successful at climbing as you. Thanks for what you're doing for the sport. Stay Safe!
  4. I was wondering if anyone had been to leavenworth lately and tried rock climbing at Castle Rock at all, or in the icicle. I was thinking that it might be more melted out, perhaps enough to climb? I'm itching wiht all this nice weather to get out and get on something steep. Any word would be appreciated. Thanks
  5. I was wondering if anyone had been up to the baker waterfall at the ski area recently to see how it's held in there after all this nice weather. I'm looking to go up on the 10th and am questioning if it'll still be around. Is it possible to top any of the pitches around there? Thanks
  6. Is anyone going to be skiing at paradise this weekend, the snowlevel is supposed to drop way below paradise which means some great tracks for the first of the season for me.
  7. What do you guys think about skiing at paradise and the area around this weekend? I think it's going to snow all week, but will it be enough?
  8. A size large Moonstone gore tex pac lite anorak jacket for 125$(obo)only used twice, in perfect condition. Black, with a great fitting hood, articulated elbows, waterproof zippers all over, and huge pit zips. A truly great jacket, that weighs about 22 ounces, and packs to half the size of my normal gore tex. It is too big for me, and I have another jacket to take it's place. More breathable than normal goretex because they remove the inner layer of fabric and replace it with breathable abrasion resistent dots. email me at brownc9@cc.wwu.edu if you have questions.
  9. I was wondering if anyone had any input on the purchase of a Chugach Jacket, if they have any experience with it and what not. Thanks
  10. so what you're saying is that there is some snow? has anyone actually been up there recently though to actually know?
  11. I was just wondering if anyone knows how much snow there is at Paradise for some skiing and snowcamping this three day weekend. Thanks
  12. I want to get on any email list, for climbing, backcountry skiing, I need a skiing partner so if anyone loves snowcamping, and teleskiing in the b/c at baker drop me an email
