  1. Sounds like a great idea. Count me in
  2. My sweetie and I went to Leavenworth on Friday and climbed "The Regular Route". 95+ degrees. It was so damn hot the bugs and snakes weren't even out. p.s. Has anyone heard how the climbing issues is turning out in Canada (Lower Malamute closure)?
  3. A fews years back my partner and I were decending Mt. Shuksan after a full day of late August climbing. We were about 50 meters from being off the glacier, had about 10 meters of rope slack between us and deaming of sucking down that cold one back at the truck when all of a sudden my next step cracked opened up a hidden crevasse. I quickly jumped forwards planting my axe and yelling to my partner who immediately launched into an arrest position as we watched all of our rope slack zip into the crevasse. Fortunately the crevasse was not wide enough to swallow one of us up. I assume that if either one us would have fallen in the crevasse other person would have never held the fall due to the rope slack. We both had failed to follow our basic safety rules: The climb is not over until you get home. Bottom line: I Always rope up for glacier travel. Live for the next climb.
  4. Sorry to hear about this problem. If there anything we can do to help out I'm sure you will have a large group for support. My guess is it's a liability issue.
  5. What the hell is wrong with people? Are we trying to ruin our climbing areas? Obviously there is small group of idiots out trying to screw everything up for everyone. STOP IT YOU MORONS. If don't like to clipping bolts then don't clip them, use trad gear if you like (I do). Climbing is supposed to be fun. So what if people say Vantage has over bolted, that is only an opinion.
  6. It began when I was in my twenties with a challenge while out hiking with group of friends. Someone dared me to scramble up this steep blocky granite peak (near Colchuck lake, WA.) Once on top the view was spectactular and the experience was rushing through me, I was hooked. Bigger problem was getting down, no rope and no easy decent. I made it down safely with very little blood shed. My reward was, I received a slap from everyone and a free beer! Excellent this is fun. I then made friends with this scruffy older guy who had years of experience, gear and attitude willing to teach me. I continue to climb with my girl friend who pursued climbing because I was never around. We climb together several times a week. Climbing is my reality check, I realize what is really important when I'm on the rock or in the mountains.
  7. Buzzards Breath, tasty but hard to find. I think it's from Rolling Rock. This weather sucks!
