  1. I took a Factor 2 fall on a daisy chain!
  2. The average gym climber wants to sport climb outside. On sport climbing, they find that it's sometimes a long way between cruxes so they take up bouldering which is all crux and no filler. But the bouldering is better the longer it is so they start highballing. it's only a short step from highballs to trad climbing - runout trad climbing is really just a series of highballs above gear instead of mats - and trad climbing leads to alpine climbing. There you have it. Gym climbing is the lowest rung on the ladder and alpinism the highest.
  3. Maybe this will make things clearer? red dashed line = current snow level green arrow = our approach blue X = our belay and packs purple - route you and Scott climbed. I didn't climb it so if you say WI4+ I guess it was. orange - route Steve and I climbed. Belays marked In neither case was it a full 30m to rap sO i guess total length was more like 50-55m than 60m but there was easily another 20-30m of lower angle wallow to the top of the route from there. Interesting that Brent told me it was WI5 and a full pitch the day after he climbed it and then told you it was WI4+ and 30m when you were writing the guidebook. Then again he told me that Skaha was on the direct route from Jasper to Bella Coola once too.
  4. All the cool (free) ones are going to be unreachable this weekend. Unless you have a helicopter. So basically it's Harrison Hot Springs or nothin'
  5. The images are all taken on the east side of Nusatsum River, well north of Ape Lake and the Monarch and just south of Nusatsum Peak itself. Mosquito Pass may be reached via a bushwack. This is a trailless area and requires competence in route finding and map reading. For easier scrambling and hiking I would recommend the Rainbow Range in Tweedsmuir Park which is accessible by trail from the top of the Big Hill. Another good idea would be to follow the Turner Lakes Chain trail past Hunlen Falls then gain the rolling alpine terrain above the lakes as it is much less steep and technical than in the Nusatsum area and the views are just as good.

    Quarantine the Fat!!!!

Well why would you quarantine the fatties if there wasn't a danger of transmission? Aside from the fact that fat ppl are sometimes hazardous to view, especially in tight bathing suits .

  8. If you look at Jesse's photo we belayed above the first visible ice in that shot which was, in fact, more of a ski slope than an ice climb this year.
  9. Earthly makes the approach Nepopekum from the trail on the way to GWTF Foreshortened view of route and Earthly's head Don does some zamboni work looking for ice underneath the junk. Bigger versions of thumbnails are in the gallery.

    Quarantine the Fat!!!!

They used to think ulcers were caused by working too hard, too. If they can develop a vaccine and make fat people skinny, think of the benefit to society and your tax bill.

  16. Should be somewhere near the base of "Go with The Flow" in Manning Park. Doubt it will be seen until the spring what with all the freshiez up there and spindrift burial of the base of the climb. Still, on the remote chance you find it and feel like giving it back I post this. OTOH if you find it and need to booty it then you're welcome.

  23. Since we are the first generation to have proper oral hygiene, our teeth will always be perfect. But the youngsters of today will probably have nanotech diamond-coated cavityless, unbreakable teeth, or biotech grow-a-new-one-on-demand shark gene teeth by the time they are 30.
