rimrocked Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Can anyone report on Aasgard pass conditions? Crampons, axe needed? Many thanks! Quote
montypiton Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 as of last week, very little snow. trail route on left side is close to snow-free. if you go beyond the col at the top, you may well need axe and poons - but to get to the top of Aasgard, probably not. Quote
CapitalNathan Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) Here's a photo from this past Sunday. There is just a little bit of snow travel towards the top. I had an axe for this part as well as some of the snow travel inside the Enchantments basin but plenty of people looked like they were getting by with trekking poles. Someone had suggested snowshoes to us the day before but they never left the pack and we felt fairly silly for bringing them. So bring an axe or trekking pole but no crampons or snowshoes. We did it in approach shoes and got soggy but were happy with our choice. ]http://imgur.com/V2YgC0c Edited June 5, 2015 by CapitalNathan Quote
