peterinnes Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Trip: Glacier Peaks Wilderness - Glacier Peak via Gerdine Ridge Date: 2/28/2015 Trip Report: Linked up with E. Linck and R. Kresser for an in-a-day attempt of Glacier Peak via North Fork Sauk Trail and Gerdine Ridge. We turned around ~1000 ft below summit due to high winds and diminishing energy/time safety buffer. We experienced mild instability in ~6" storm slab on NW slopes but there was very little propagation. Later in the day, thawing instabilities on steep S aspects below White Mountain resulted in significant roller ball debris piles, making route-finding through this section quite tense.
