Mt. Ellinor (Summer Route) Another Juneuary Trip!

Date: 1/25/2014

Trip Report:

Hey everyone! Its June! wait what?? that didn't make sense!! yes its 50 degrees out and warm! The summer route is melted out in most spots on Mt. Ellinor. I had my boots and crampons but people were marching up in their running shoes. For my first time being up there it was amazing! Of course I did not want to leave. Took us about 4 hours to get up to the top and then 2 back down. Slushy snow as usual coming down. We decided to park in the lower winter parking lot and gave us another 1000 feet to climb. We needed to prepare ourselves this summer! The snow was good, my partner had micro spikes, I had crampons and big ol mountaineering boots;) people were climbing up in running shoes so of course I over looked a June day in January. Good day overall! Very warm! For both of us it was our first times being up at the summit. My partner had tried last year but didn't make it. There were a lot of switchbacks which made the elevation gain fast. We could see Mt. Olympus, Baker, Glacier Peak, Seattle poking through the clouds, Rainier, and Adams. Il let the pictures do the rest of the talking :P
