Whitewater trailhead - Jefferson Wilderness

This time o' year, can you drive all the way up to the trailhead?

Was up there a few weeks ago and got within a mile of the trailhead. Assuming more snow has fell, not likely gonna get closer. In normal snow years, it would be hard to get more than a few miles up the road.

Last weekend I drove up to 5000' on the west side of the cascades. Only about a foot of snow up there. Some snow, some rain in the forecast, but not much, unfortunately.

What kind of vehicle? I've got a 4x4 truck with AT tires and chains I could use... at 14mpg

I was in a 2 wheel drive truck. a 4x4 couldve made the last mile. But that was 3 weeks ago, not that we've had much snow since.

If you're heading that way in the coming weeks, give me a shout. I know that wilderness fairly well and I am looking to get out during my break from school. Been up Jefferson almost a dozen times(west rib, south, southwest, and whitewater)

Seems like this is the year to get up there. I have a f150. not much tread and no chains required.
